Description

Remnants of an old label affixed to the frame lists the artist and his New York address.

Doyle lists the following:  “This work was shown to Mr. John Frisk of Frisk and Borodin by the consignor. He has authenticated the painting. Dirty varnish. Frame rubbing. Lined (glue), which is pulling away from the original canvas. Several old repaired tears (or deep scratches) in his face, with inpainting. Spots of inpainting in his hair (top of head and lower right) as well as in the feather. The dark green pigments in the background fluoresce slightly under UV light. May be original pigments or overpaint, difficult to determine. These pigments to not fluoresce with the same intensity as the inpainting in the face and hair.”
