This portrait is signed on the verso. The portrait seems to be rather quickly painted, yet the strokes are quite confidently placed.

Both of these portraits, it seems from the framing were held by the same family. Both Paintings were signed on the verso.

2010, Broadway Arts Festival June 2010. Together with a copy of the illustrated hardback book on the artist “Soldier of Fortune” by Joyce Sharpey-Schafer (Utica, New York 1984) The catalogue of the festival, speculated that this painting may have been a study for a mural by Millet entitled. “Noble Savage.”
