Description
Many of the artists who lived in Broadway would draw caricatures of each other. Frank did this cartoon of Sargent painting “Carnation Lily Lily Rose,” near Farnham House, where he first started on the painting before moving with the Millet’s to the Russell House garden in 1886, when the Millet’s moved from Farnham to Russell House; Sargent continued to work there during the two years the painting took to complete.
