Description
This preparatory study for the mural “The Foreman of the Grand Jury Rebuking the Chief Justice of New Jersey, 1774” was commissioned for the Essex County Courthouse, Essex, New Jersey and was installed in 1908
The viewer can see the three gentlemen just behind the Foreman with his arm raised. The model for the Foreman, was Millet’s eldest son and he was dressed in one of the many period costumes in the Millet collection.
