Francis Davis Millet was a member of the Salmagundi Club, NYC, NY during his lifetime and is listed in their historic members list.

The artist’s palette collection is one of the largest private collections of American artist’s palettes in the world numbering approximately 140. A large portion of the collection has been donated by a former artist member of the club, Harry Wilson Watrous (1857-1940) in about 1917 or 1918. 63% of the collection was donated by the former artist member of the Club, other palettes were directly donated by artist members or others. The archives do not indicate how they received Millet’s palette.
Salmagundi Museum of American Art is currently running a program that asks its member artists to share how they use their palette, arrange their paint, what brands and types of paint and more in an ongoing digital series and interactive QR enabled display within the clubhouse.

The club website indicates that one current member and one recently passed member’s palette will be displayed within the newly renovated Inness palette niche and Hartley palette niche.
The club doesn’t currently list if Millet’s palette has been on display previously.
